What does rasterizing a PDF do?

Rasterizing converts the selectable text and vector elements on a page into a flat image. The page still looks the same, but the content can no longer be edited, copied, or extracted.

Do I need a paid plan to rasterize a PDF?

Yes. Rasterize Pages is available on DocHub's Pro and Site License plans. You can create a free account and edit your document, but rasterizing is applied on download with a Pro plan.

Can I undo rasterizing?

Once you download a rasterized file, its text is part of an image and can't be turned back into editable text. Keep an editable copy of the original if you may need to change it later.

Does rasterizing help with redaction?

Yes. On its own, a Whiteout box can leave the underlying text recoverable. Cover the content with Whiteout and then rasterize the page so the hidden text can't be revealed.

Will the text still be searchable after rasterizing?

No. Because the text becomes an image, it's no longer selectable or searchable — that's the point of locking it.

Can I rasterize a PDF on my phone?
